I think you will find that in most cases these pumps have not worked in years. Most of the belts failed a long time ago and have just been forgotten.
The air pump was a joke used to dilute the exhaust gases with air on initial startup to keep emissions down. So unless your car is tested from a dead cold start up, it most likely will have no impact on emissions testing. Once the car is warmer the pump is unnecessary and the air is diverted and no longer injected.

fritz,
It is quite easy to remove the pipe as one piece, in saying that please keep in consideration I have the calaytic delete option for ME cars and the pipes are a little different.
But as Cobalt so quite rightly points out, the air pump seems like a joke. I did an emission test here a little while back and with a dead pump I easily passed the required minimum 4.5% as required here. If you drive to the emission test and you engine is warm the pump (if working) would be diverted anyway!!

@ Anthony and Youcef
yes guys, i think you´re right.
reconsidering this issue i remembered, that afaik the air pump has to be disconnected anyway during the emission test in order to get proper results.
therefor the pump has actually no impact whether it works properly or not.
