AC Belt flutter/drone
I've just had my car serviced and part of that involved replacing the fan & AC belts.
I noted a change in noise levels from the engine at just below 3,000 rpm [a droning noise] so I took it back to the mechanic.
He found the cause, it's the AC belt fluttering at higher RPM. The dilemma with the fix is that the more tension we put on the belt, the more pressure we put on the bearings.
The Porsche book suggests a slightly tighter tension, but the mechanic says that there is more bearing noise at that level.
The question is what do I put the pressure on, the belt or the bearing? Has anybody had experience with this?
