Sonny, Sammer, Cobalt

You prompted another read of the "Who's got the best looking Turbo" thread... that helped!

I have driven my friends C2S Sonny and you're right, I did feel it was underpowered... it felt, ummm... bulky?

I am going to test drive the C4S today - I will take the advice here and do that... will get back to you all after that!

Thanks everyone... great support group!!

Hello, my name is Kevin, and I used to dream of a non-turbo...

(Group)Hi Kevin...

I keep having these thoughts...

(Group)It's ok to have thoughts Kevin. You just have to be strong...

It's just the desire to change. Sometimes I think about getting another car, but then I drive my C2T and remember why it is the best. Maybe someday I'll get a 993tt street car, but that's about it.

Well, I would have used the following, but it's too big for Rennlist:

Kevin,

We all get tempted by the latest "tart" in the neighborhood! You're forgiven!

When I was looking to get my current Turbo about 9-10 years ago; I drove a brand new 911 , that actually cost the same as the 91-92 Turbo's that I was searching for. It was a nice car, with improved suspension, newer looks, more comfort, etc. It was an absolute bore compared to the "Kick-in-the-Pants" feeling of the Turbo's.

Today's newer Porsches are much closer in feel to the Turbos because of their increased horsepower and torque. But, they still aren't Turbos. Besides, those kids in the school busses probably wouldn't even notice you without that Whale Tail!

I'm currently being tempted by a 996TT. With a relatively minor chip change, these can get up to almost 500HP and 500 Ft.Lbs. of Torque. Add a GT-2 wing and you've got that intimidation factor going for you. However, even if I pull that buy switch, the 964 turbo will stay in the stable. There is no substitute for that big wing and that "fat" ***!

Glad to see that you've stayed in the fold and let your emotions overpower your brain.

It's hard to not like the lines of the C4S. But the turbo's beauty is more than just skin deep.

Lately I have been amazed about how many of these twenty something year olds come up to me to talk about the turbo. They all say the same thing. They just love the lines of these cars and that the newer cars just don't do it for them.

They are all very intrigued by these cars and have great respect for them. The other day a young guy and his girlfriend were talking to me. He had a worked honda which he claims was pumping out 600hp. Very Bling Bling but he kept saying if he could he would switch with me in a second. I found it funny that he said it was the movie Bad Boys and the turbo 3.6 which got him interested in cars when he was 12. Then he proceeded to show me how he copied certain aspects of my car in his mods. Meanwhile his girlfreind was salivating over my car. Pretty cool to see such regard from kids that were so young when these cars were built. The legend lives on.

Glad to see your staying in turbo land.

Anthony,

You're right about the recognition factor, especially with the young. Once, I was out cruising around on the highway with my "92" absolutely gleaming from a wash, polish, wax effort. A car full of teenagers, boys and girls, drove up along the inside lane on me and started blowing the horn and giving the 'Thumbs-Up" sign. They were so intent on doing this, that they didn't notice that the lane they were in was ending and they drove straight into the breakdown lane with the accompanying dirt and dust sweeping into the air and panic in the driver's eye's!

The 964 Turbo is that mesmerizing!
