Default My New Turbo!

Hey all,
Well as you guys knew Jean was selling his fantastic speed yellow 3.6 and basically I was the one who bought it! It took a long time getting everything sorted as the car was in Saudi and had to be shipped to Dubai - which is where I flew over and met Jean there and saw the car!
Well the car is good as it looks, the ride is very smooth & fast considering all the mods. I havent got the car back yet in UK which should be about a month, then ill post some more pics and get a real chance to drive it properly.

Jean is a very decent guy and I would reccomend him to anyone to do any business with, he made the deal as smoothly as one possibly could in our circumstances. Top rennlister!

Cheers

Congrats Miles,

You are making us all jealous here. Not only did you buy an amazing car from Jean but it makes 2 94's in your collection, very cool.

Would you care to elaborate on the mods and how it makes the car different from your realitively stock 3.6T?

Best of luck

Miles,
Congrats thats beautiful. What has been done to the car already and what do you plan on doing on it, or are you? Love the rims.

Miles,

Looks even better now than in the pictures in 911&PW. I think that the amber indicators with colour coded ducts look far better on speed yellow cars than the clear indicators but i may try mine with satin black ducts initially as have seen them on a picture which is currently my desktop wallpaper.

The wheels and rear spolier are just amazing - i can see that i'm going to have to raid my piggy bank soon.

Thanks guys, I do love the rims they make a difference. it had another set on it when i bought it so i havent yet seen them on it in the flesh. something to look forward to when i pick it up at the port!

The engine mods are:
GT2 cams which dont rock the idle, so im surprised and happy about that
Modded fuel head for the 1 bar spring
K29 - turbo... i heard of the k27HF and was thinking if this would be a good swap or not, dont know if anyones tried both?
B&B headers- nice but have a few holes as normal for B&B!
Hayward and scott final muff, which uses both left and right tips as an exhuast from the turbo. The wastegate is just a small exit pipe.
Its got a K&N induction kit on there as well.

Theres not much more to mod the engine, all i was thinking of was a better CBV and perhaps routing the ram air duct directly to the air intake- however as these are cheap to do i guess i will try them at least! The holes from the ram air ducts are alot smaller than i thought- only 3 small holes actually- perhaps they need opening up but then youll be cutting the lovely spoiler.... i guess ill be driving it for abit and see how i feel

Im going to upgrade the rear brakes to 993TT as the fronts have them and also it has the floating discs as well... then im tempted to get them painted speed yellow- if it isnt overkill!

And it needs a passenger recaro spg seat to match, i found my waist fitted the spg fine but my legs didnt! but i was told you could push the seat out a bit with a press.... or i thinking of selling it and getting a set of GT3 seats instead.

Thats about it for now for mods. i have some clear indicator lenses and ill see if they look better.

It drives completely different to stock, the pick up is so much better and more lively, then when the k29 kicks in it sure does bite! the handling is supurb too, much better with 4wd but theres a bit more weight with it, however i thinks it worth it.

Cheers

Congratulations Miles,

Great looking car. Was this car featured on 911 & Porsche world? If so, what issue? I have all of it from 1999 to now.

Miles, please leave some of the '94 Turbo 3.6 to us what would like to upgrade one day... :-).

Regards,

Sonny

Miles,

The K29 really does push you right back in the seat - even the specialist i use thinks it's great fun and he has had turbo's for years

Can't comment on the K29 in our cars. I had the fun of driving a heavily modified 79 turbo with a K29 and the power came on very strong but not very controllable.

The HF K27 is significantly different to the stock K 27. IT comes on earlier and blows strong all the way to redline. IMO for street driving the HF K27 is the perfect turbo for these cars, For the track you may want to stay with the K29.

Anthony/Miles:

I have had both the K29 and the K27HF, with the latter on my car now.

The K29 reaches full boost much later than the K27HF. This gives it a lot more kick once it does spool up. As to which is faster, straight line I couldn't say, but on the track, I'll take the K27HF. A sudden surge is not really what you want as you bring power into the exit of a corner. I find the K27 to be much smoother and more to my preferences.

If you like that sudden surge, keep the K29. But, I think you will find most people running regular track events or PCA races using the K27HF.

Sonny- The issue is Feb2001 'Traction Control', however it has all the engine mods but not wheels, spolier and spg. looks alot different.

I think I will keep the K29 for a while, its basically only got 10k on it and those studs on the turbo look shrunk so I wont bother with the extra hastle.

Ive also got hold of some OEM yellow instruments that look great! They are off a 993TT (so i get the 200mph guage) however i think somepeople said they are different to 964s.....

Cheers

Congratulations on a an excellent purchase. I remember reading about the car and drooling over it when it was covered by 911 & Porsche World.

Please post some pics of both cars when your yellow beast makes it t the UK.

Yes I did, i guess you were after them as well? Im not sure tho about the fittings, I think all will fit expect the oil pressure one as I think the wiring is slightly different, i might try and take out that actual face and swap it if that deosnt work.

Let me know how you get on with fitting them and if possible a picture would be great when fitted to the car - Thanks

I was considering them. I also missed the yellow seat belt set which ended up in America according to Simon (big shipping costs!)
