Yes i have looked up in the archives but didn't get my answer. My question is,is it a plug and play thing or would i need a wiring harness to make it work properly ? The stock bulbs are 55 watts, right and do H4's use the same or is it more like 90 watts ? last question,is it really worth it ?
Thanks a bunch.

Yasir,
You can increase the wattage of the bulbs in the H5's. It will do about the same as the H4's with standard 55/65W bulbs. You will need an adaptor to install the H4's. You can get one from Ajusa. You will also need to have the rims painted if you buy the primered ones. If you get a set with the chrome rings you will need the paintable trim rings.
I find the H1's do a much better job. The lens is almost completely clear and both high and low beams have separate bulbs and adjustable reflectors.
I believe there are several threads on the 964 forum.

Even as child any time i drew a 911 Porsche i always painted the headlight trims black and now that i have the baby heck why not full fill the child hood dream and put some H4's with black trims.I personally think black trims would look nice on a red 911,any suggestions ?
Anthony,
I'll try to look up the H1's but how do they differ from H4's ? Btw is it not possible to just change the lens to H4/H1 rather then buying the whole assembly ?
Thanks

I don't know if this will show up or not but my black car has the H4's on it with the trim rings in the primer black. As you can see they look almost identical to the H5's on the turbo.
I put these on the black car before I sold it. I still have the H1's that were on the car which have a chrome ring and then I used a set of trim rings to cover the chrome. The H1's look the same as the H4's except the lens is almost totally clear vs the H4's which have some prisms cut into it. I do not believe the H1's came in anything but chrome. They are no longer available and I have seen used sets sell on Ebay from time to time for $6-800.00. You can change the lenses but I don't know what it will do for you. The H1's have separate reflectors and bulbs for both High and Low beams. I used to run 100W high's and 100W lows. I would adjust the lows down so not to blind on coming traffic and adjust the highs for optimum long distance driving. The light was incredible, when you turned on the highs it gave me 400W of light. You could read the signs 2 miles down the road on dark Vermont nights. I do not get close to the same visibility in my 740 with the HID's. Also the H4's do not give you this level of adjustability. Whatever setting is required for the low beams compromises the optimal setting for the highs, same with the H5's.
You can always paint the trim rings on the H5's black and they sell HID kits for the H5's for about $400.00.
