can I drop engine few inches without removing wheels
I need to remove my crank pulley, have removed the bumper and want to drop the engine few inces so i can access the pulley bolt and seal.
Do i have to remove the wheels or can i leave them on the ground, will this also help in locking the flyheel whilst i try remove the pulley bolt or is there a risk i may damage something

Not sure but probably will work.
FYI if you’re chasing down an oil leak in the crank output you’ll probably be disappointed with the effort. Usually the No 8 nose bearing O-ring seal. A split case repair. I did it anyway as you and many others likely to as well.
Another way for sure however make yourself or buy the pulley holder?
Good luck!

i dont think the crank seal behind pulley is leaking, im doing this as a precaution as bumper and part of the exhaust is off, the leak is form the o ring below the pulley, covered by a blanking plate and two bolts
I fit was the Nose bearing has anyone used this kit Tom Amon's "Nose Bearing Seal Sleeve" on the 964 turbo, cars only done 60k

you can drop the engine a few inches. no problem so far. start lowerig inch by inch and stop once one fuel or oil tube gets short.
put a jack under the engine and loosen the two back screws. then loosen the gearbox carrier by few turns of every screw. remove the two back screws.
then you can drop the back end carefully.

Thanks, I have never dropped or removed the engine
I was under the impression when i removed the front bolts on the brace the that the engine would start to drop, didn't realise i had to loosen transmission mounts, do you have any pics of which gearbox mount i need to undo
Also where abouts in the engine are the oil and fuel lines that i need to keep an eye on
