Default Loud #2 Fuel Pump and it's new

Kind of a weird problem. My new #2 fuel pump is making excessive noise at start up only. Then the car dies and won't restart. Like it's a bad pump.
So I bypassed the relay now jumping the terminals. The 2nd fuel pump is loud then the sound goes away. Car starts fine.
Happen twice today.
Almost like an air pocket or blockage. I assume there's a oneway check valve on the second fuel pump?
Then the fuel arrives at the fuel accumulator. Where there's two fittings on one side and the return line on the other side.
Could I have reversed the lines on the side with two fittings?
Would that even figure?
The car runs fine when the fuel pump is quiet. This doesn't happen while driving. Only after sitting for a bit.
Bad Check valve?

check valve only in front of first pump. so if fuels does not stay there under pressure front valve or pump is done.

mounted a new front pump three weeks ago. after two weeks car did not run. pump was toasted. today you never know about quality you get.

check fuel pressure. will answer questions. there is only two reasons for that. defective accumulatir or check valve / front pump.

When my front pump went my rear went just a few trips later - probably stressed it out when it was the only pump in the circuit.

Procedure may be helpful, values may not be as this is for the introduction of 964 chassis, not turbo specific.

The rear pump acted up again today at the St. Louis European car show. They gave me an excellent spot for my parts car. lol.

I guess I'll order another rear fuel pump. Took four times to start. When the car wouldn't start the pump was extremely loud.

Annoying job to have to do twice. I had a cheaper (new) pump in my 73 that gave out after a year (2K miles or so). Replaced with BOSCH no probs since. Curious if it isn't the accumulator as well.
