Kind of a weird problem. My new #2 fuel pump is making excessive noise at start up only. Then the car dies and won't restart. Like it's a bad pump.
So I bypassed the relay now jumping the terminals. The 2nd fuel pump is loud then the sound goes away. Car starts fine.
Happen twice today.
Almost like an air pocket or blockage. I assume there's a oneway check valve on the second fuel pump?
Then the fuel arrives at the fuel accumulator. Where there's two fittings on one side and the return line on the other side.
Could I have reversed the lines on the side with two fittings?
Would that even figure?
The car runs fine when the fuel pump is quiet. This doesn't happen while driving. Only after sitting for a bit.
Bad Check valve?
Annoying job to have to do twice. I had a cheaper (new) pump in my 73 that gave out after a year (2K miles or so). Replaced with BOSCH no probs since. Curious if it isn't the accumulator as well.
