964 Turbo Cutting out when idling .
Good Morning All.
Im new on here so hello .
My 1991 964 Turbo is cutting out ( sometimes) when i'm stopped and the engine is idling? Any ideas what it could be?

Hi Paul,
unfortunately, there are a number of possible causes. If you look for it, the prerequisite is that the engine is mechanically ok, i.e. compression and valve clearance must be correct, and the spark plugs should have been changed according to the sevice instructions.
Failures as described often result from false air. First the system should be checked for leaks, this is best done with a fog machine, in a pinch with a jump starter spray. If false air can be ruled out, would then continue with a measurement of the WLR and a CO measurement.
All this is not rocket technology, but you need some diy skills and a few devices.

Thank You everyone for your help.
The problem was someone had been messing with the intercooler and not connected it up correctly.It was remarkable it was running at all. Its running like a dream apart from no hot air in the cabin but i think its the mixer flaps not moving to allow hot air in.
