Me too - I examined it pretty carefully and there are no signs of rebuild. No washer marks on the case, no scoring anywhere, no old marks, etc. And again the unit and the box may or may not have been together before. Wonder if there is any certain indication I could look for.
Freisinger Sr. was known very early on for good relations with Stuttgart and he got sorted parts that no one else had, this also applied to motorsport parts. But he also bought from other dealers and workshops.
@Wicks Please email me a photo of the packaging with the part number/item description. I'll try to figure out what the BX is all about.

PS: I tried again to get documentation from Bosch, also with the intention of finding the ignition advance curves and congruent MB EZ's. At the second attempt, they wrote to me that they would not release any documents because the information was part of the ESItronic system, which is subject to a fee. ESItronic is a diagnosis and service system for Bosch service stations and workshops. Maybe can get access and more information there.
I asked about the quality of the parts with index AX or BX. Basically, these are replacement parts, when you buy them, you have to return the (defective) old part. Parts remanufacturing processes are typically used for alternators, starters, engines, etc.
The parts man at my Porsche dealer told me that the replacement parts he orderd appear to be brand new and he thinks it's highly unlikely that components like EZ69 will be remanufactured. The effort for a complex cast part is far too high compared to procure a new part from the manufacturer. Such parts are simply included in the exchange program because one wants to see what is defective.
It's a little different with generators and starters, because they have parts that are not subject to wear.
There is no evidence that the parts were withdrawn from the market due to a shorter lifespan. I was told that they did not end up at Freisinger, but under lock and key and finally in a scrap press.Let's assume the best.
Maybe people who installed the BX units didn't add a useful amount of thermal paste and so the units burned up without being attached to their cooling fin (mount bracket). LOL
Here is small addition that I found in an older PET (offline) version. At some point was 965.602.706.02 no longer available, it was then listed without price and with a successor (=Nachfolger) part.
