Question 1991 965 Turbo Headlight question

Is there any difference between the OEM Porsche headlights for $ 365 or the ones advertised in Excellence for $135 ? Are these units sealed or vented ? Thanks

The factoy lights are H5's. Everyone sells them. I don't know about the ones in Excellence. The units are not sealed.

The H4's are the older style. I think they throw a better light myself. I have a set of H1's from my previous 911. I was thinking about switching over. The H4's and H1's will require a wire harness and painted trim ring to work on your car. Try AJUSA,Pelican, performance products, Ebay.

Do you still have high and low beams, or are you stuck with just lows?

Wet1,
Just stuck with the low beam which trust me lights up the whole road. Sometimes I do get the finger from other drivers. Dont need the high beams.
However Philip is out with the low and high beam lights now.

I thought they baned these systems in the US. Something about having to do with the need to be self leveling

You are correct Anthony. Self leveling is the secondary issue. The main problem is the light dispersment. Factory cars that have HID lighting have very focused lenses. When HID bulbs are used in non-HID aplications, the light is dispersed too high and losely causing blinding conditions for on comming trafic (as Sameer stated).

I have installed these on my daily driver. As Sameer stated, they are very bright. They really light up signs at night for the reason I described above. I did find I missed having the high/low beams dearly and I've gone back to the factory lights. Too often I needed or wanted to flash my high beams and couldn't. The HID lighting performance was equevlent to about 7/10's of my high beams.
