Ian, first your shop says the new injectors are the problem, then they say maybe we should install the new injectors. Sorry, but they wouldn't inspire me with confidence.
I'm beginning to wonder if many shops are up on the operations of CIS. The guys who own longnose 911 with mechanical fuel injection have it worse. At the bottom of the heap are the owners who need their Carrera 4 engines worked on as many of the mechanics trained on those powerplants are deceased.

Guys, my friend's 964 turbo had a problem when starting on a hot engine, it only fired with the gas pressed to the floor. Colleagues from the forum suggested to replace the fuel accumulator for which I am grateful to them. After replacement, the problem disappeared. A hot engine starts normally every time without touching the accelerator. As for the fuel injections from bosch, they are the same injectors that are expensive at Porsche, bosch makes them for porsche. Exactly the same story with the fuel accumulator

@Metal Guru actually this is when I was switching shops. The "replace the injectors was the local Porsche dealership" who frankly liked to replace lots of things The shop I was referring to is the new shop which still gets an A+ by me. But yes, I agree the institutional knowledge is not supported by demography which is why when you find a reputable shop....... Hopefully as this journey progresses I will accumulate enough knowledge myself to be more than a little bit dangerous.

this old cis cars are tricky. they create new faults occasionally.
tried to balance my injectors (new 2500 km) as a test only. wanted to find out if volume changed from new to this distance. all tests fine, little too much fuel over all so i started to correct this. was late and i started over next day and lost complete fuel pressure. once i stopped the pumps it dropped to zeeo in seconds.

i went through the whole way: accumulator, wur, fuel head, pumps, etc. ! Adays of research for nothing. one day test ended with full pressure.
i still do not know why or what happened.

it works again.

Looks like it's time to pull your tank, remove the screen on the pickup and flush it out.

We pulled the tank sender on a 930 MY 1980 recently, probably for the first time ever. No water, no dirt, no deposits, no nothing. Just like new.
