Default boost gage reading

Just got my car back from some maintenance and the boost gage reads 0.1 bar when it should read 0.0. It has never done this before. The mechanic took the intercooler off to fix a power steering hose clamp and everything seems hooked up properly but as soon as I start to drive the gage goes to 0.1 bar and doesn't go back to zero until I start the car again. If accelerating it does go to .7 bar as it should but doesn't seem to drop back as fast when you let off the as. Any ideas on the cause of this? Seems to run fine but the gage always worked perfectly before and never showed boost when just driving slowly in 4th and 5th, Help!!

By chance did you replace the compressor bypass valve? I changed mine and noticed that pattern of behaviour with the boost gauge.

No, nothing was changed, just had the power steering leak fixed. At first the mechanic thought the wires at the switch by the intercooler were reversed but when I changed those it got worse and always read 0.2 bar so I switched them back. Thanks for the reply.

I had the same problem when I changed my BPV it stayed at .2 or sometimes .1 bar. It also now reads .2 to .3 bar in 4th and 5th when at 3500 rpm and slight pedal pressure. Never did this before. After a few drives the gage started dropping back to 0.0 but still stays at .3 bar when cruising at 80 mph or about 3500 rpm.

Wish I had more info for ya.

Let us know if you find a solution.

Anthony,

My gauge has started reading 0.7 all of the time. If I fiddle with the connector it reads 0.2 for a while, then flicks back to 0.7.

It would appear that there is a bad connection on the sender unit which is why mine is mis-reading. I'll have a play next weekend. Have you fixed yours?

John,

The gauge appears to be working properly now. I didn't do anything but for some reason it is reading fine. However I have had on occasion seen the gage switch from boost to miles without hitting the stalk.

The car is going in for some work today. I am going to have them take a look see. I will let you know if anything is amiss.

The senders are not terriably accurate. The 993TT and the C2T both from time to time will do that. Check the grounds and the connection. If they are ok the sender could be doing it. It is nothing to really worried about. It is somewhat normal.
