Sunday, April 4th GW Bridge - Bannerman Castle – HOOTERS Run + Bonus Paterek Brothers Concours Workshop!!

Alright ladies and gentlemen, this is the first big meet of the 2004 season and boy do we mean BIG!! We have a great time planned for you all!!

As the name suggests, we will be meeting at the Palisades State Park on Henry Hudson Drive just north of the GW Bridge on the NJ side of the river.

The entrance into the park is via East Palisades Avenue as it passes under the Palisades Interstate Parkway in Englewood Cliffs, New Jersey.
This is the entrance sign:

We will assemble n the parking lot a short distance down the road in the park.be set up to take photos of cars both individually and as a group. We can meet with all of our old acquaintances as well as some new ones.

ARRIVE WITH A FULL TANK OF GAS and bring an FRS Radio Tuned to Channel 7 Sub 0

9:00AM Sharp!!
We will depart the park and proceed up the Palisades Parkway into New York State.

We will follow the PP to the end and across the Bear Mountain Bridge

to follow Route 9D north along the eastern shore of the Hudson River. There will be a location to temporarily park along the way to grab some Castle photos. If you are interested in some good Castle pictures, bring a pair of hiking shoes because you will need to take a 5 minute walk that can be a little rocky and muddy. (Hani (03C4S) did the walk so ask him if you have questions about this aspect). The Bannerman Castle can be viewed from that location. This is it:

Here is the Bannerman Castle link: Bannerman Castle

And the Bannerman Island link:

Sounds like fun, but I will probably miss as I will be cleaning the brake dust and tire marks off my car after visiting Lime Rock a few days before...

Dr J,

So does this mean the beast is complete? So how did the rebuild go? May I ask what you did or should I just ask, what didn't you replace?

Personally, I think you should both come anyway.
So far, we have about 60 cars enlisted and we are expecting about 100. I wouldn't miss it!! Oh yeah, I am an organizer.....I can't miss it!!

Ken,

I sent Michele my info and I plan on making it. I had asked her about your ambitious time schedule. Do you think 100 of us can make that trip and not invite half the local police? That seven lakes drive is a great stretch but I always get stuck and there are very few legal passing zones.

Also how are we going to park 100 Pcars at Hooters?

Needless to say sounds like it's going to be a blast.

cobalt,
We shared your same concerns. Let me address them one by one.
  • 100 cars/half of the local police......well, I guess that will be up to the locals. We will have four groups with four group leaders. You will be assigned a group upon entry to the park based upon a quick conversation regarding your driving style. We will leave it at that for now.
  • We are hoping 7 lakes drive will be little traveled at the hour we intend to take it.
  • 100 cars at Hooters will not be a problem I am assured.

It should be a blast and we are hoping things go smoothly due to the ambitious time schedule. Believe me, the organizers are hard at work doing everything in our power to make this a good and safe time.

Ken,

Sounds great.

My wife will be joining me so I can guess what group I will be in.

Until then.
