Default Should I race my 91 turbo?

Currently doing SCCA solo 1 and DE events. Has anyone gone wheel to wheel in PCA or SCCA with their turbo?

The C2T is very competitive in D stock in PCA. It has the best power to weight ratio in the class. Remember the engine has to be stock though or you get bumped up to another class. I am currently building a D stock C2T. There are only a few guys racing these in D stock probably because they are so expensive to aquire.

I have kept the motor stock, For D class would the following mods be okay, Cat delete, stock muffler, H&S struts and springs, Carrera Cup fly wheel and clutch, stock brakes, strut brace, Racing seats , five point harness, roll bar, sport cup tires, emergency cut off with a pull cord by the windshied. What Mods will you do for that class? The only issue I have with SCCA is the paint swapping mentalty of some of the racers.

if you touch the flywheel and clutch you will get bumped to prepared C class. Read the rules and regulations at www.PCA.org and you will find what you can do and what you cannot do. Also you can clarify questions directly with PCA techs before you make mods or other decisions that may cost you the class and money... There are a number of mandatory safety mods you have to do including an approved roll bar or cage, the type of harness you can use, the battery cutoff location, the fire extinguisher and the window net location and mounting type. Be aware that you have to run at weight AFTER the race that means if you race and don't meet minimum weight after the race you are going to be DQ'ed. Also PCA scruts scoff at any bare metal surfaces in the interior if you are running stock classes so be forewarned especially after you mount the rollbar/cage to cover around the mounting points the bare metal.

The paint swapping mentality you described is what have kept me at PCA racing as well, but I can tell you that it is not incident free.

To sum it up , read the rules, the mods that are allowed are mainly suspension, R tires, brake pads and safety equipment. Not sure about the cut back's but exchaust is pretty much free unless you run at a track with DB noise limit where you might need the stock mufflers.
Good luck!

Thanks for the info. I definetly will do the research prior to any further mods. I have not tried the Carrera Clutch yet and thought it would be fun to see how the cars would respond with it in. So far the most I have done is 10 - 12 lap races. We have local clubs that get together and put on sprint races. I am not sure how the car will hold up at 20 +. What are the general entry fees at PCA events?

Unfortunatly, the stock dual mass flywheel must be retained. You can go to full monoballs on the suspension. Shocks are free. Exhaust is free as long as the stock wastgate is used. Reading the rules is a priority. You can use fiberglass bumpers. 1 inch wider wheels. The rules don't state wheel diameter. There are guys out there running 18s. I'll stick with 17s.
