Default 964 Deck lid fitment question

Would a 964 Carrera deck lid fit on a turbo car or would the intercooler prevent it from fitting? I know I need a different tail to enclose the intercooler and I have one that would fit. Just wondering about the deck lid itself and if I need to buy a turbo spec deck lid as well.

Also tangentially interested.

Not to threadjack, but I took my wing (and car) to Sonnen yesterday to have then ID the type of wing that came with my car...I think it's actually a 911 Turbo vs. 964 Turbo wing and the gasket is slightly different. They originally sold me the 964 turbo gasket and it doesn't fit exactly right.

Sure looks like it should fit but the Carrera, RS and Turbo all have slightly different part numbers.

964-512-010-01
964-512-010-02
965-512-010-01

Pelican parts has both the 964-512-010-01 and the 965-512-010-01

The 964-512-010-02 just takes you to 964-512-010-01.

So the Carrera deck lid and Turbo deck lid are different and have different part numbers. Good new is that at $1795 the Turbo is $100 less than the Carrera.

Hope this helps.

The 964 C2/C4 lid will not fit over your IC. The turbo and RSA both use a variation of the older 930 and 3.2 deck lids. They have different mounting points than the 964 and require special NLA adapter brackets to work with the existing supports. (Aftermarket brackets can be purchased or easily made from aluminum angle) The 930 and 964 turbo deck lids are nearly identical except for minor stuff like lighting. The 930 turbo spoiler base and the 964 turbo spoiler base are identical except the 930 has a hole for the old style rear window wiper. The big difference between the 930 and 964 wing is the rubber portion. The 930 is taller than the 964 version. The gasket is just a roll of material it is universal for all the wings.

Tony, I definitely have different gaskets that are very similar but not identical.

Here's a quick snap of the gasket that came with my wing and the new 964T gasket that Sonnen sold me:

You can see that the zigzag cutouts for the corners don't line up. I've been dealing with this for sometime, and finally took the car into Sonnen and they're doing some research to figure out what is off/what gasket is appropriate for my wing:

Interestingly, the cutouts for the bolt-in locations are identical.

I see what you mean. Both are the same overall length? I can assure you the 964 turbo base and 930 turbo base are identical in shape and in every respect except the hole the same goes for the RSA and 3.2 carrera wings. The 3.2 has the hole and the RSA does not.

I am guessing that the new gasket they supplied you is for the 3.2/RSA and not the turbo.

If you need a turbo gasket 964/930 the part number is 930 512 215 00. The 3.2/RSA is 911 512 215 00

Curious to know what you find out.

If push comes to shove you can always modify the one to work. the only thing seen is the outer beed so just cut the zigzags where you need them. the rest glue to the base before you install so it stays straight and looks correct.

Thank you so much, ordered 930 deck lid and wing as well as the adapters for the hinges just now.
