Default Chesapeake PCA DIY Brake Tech Session in Baltimore, Dec. 13

On Saturday, December 13 from 10:00AM to 2:00PM, the Chesapeake Region of PCA will sponsor a DIY Tech Session that will concentrate on brake work, especially if you track your car. The session will be held at GT Performance and hosted by Gennady Soykher. It is open to members and non-members.

Always wanted to bleed/flush your brakes? We'll do it on Saturday. Do you have a new set of rotors that you've been eager to swap for your old, pringled, cracking ones? This is the time to see how it's done. Have you been afraid to buy race pads because you didn't know how to swap them back and forth for street pads? Well, learn how to change 'em and you'll be slapping your new Hawk Blues in and out like a pro and be left with one less excuse as to why you couldn't outbrake that 912 in your 996.

We will try and accommodate other minor, non-brake maintenance items. Please RSVP me at mleephoto1 at aol.com if 1) you plan on coming; and 2) you want to be placed on the list to have your car worked on (PCA members only). The session is only four hours, so space will be limited, as will the type of work that can be accomplished ie. no clutch jobs, engine swaps, etc. We'll try and keep the work to items of general interest. Sorry, sourcing out vacuum leaks will most likely have everyone snoring.

Gennady also has a cool stable of race cars, some customer cars, some his own, that he has in his shop. Come check them out, rap with other Porsche crazies and have some coffee, bagels and other snacks while we take apart a few cars.

It's only twelve more days before the DIY and we have a brake flud and pad change scheduled, as well as a rotor change. We may be able to squeeze one more minor brake issue in. Email me if you're interested.

See you on Saturday!

Okay, it looks like our itinerary is all set for our DIY day.

We currently have a 1) a brake fluid flush and pad change; 2) rotors, pads, and sensors to be replaced on a Boxster; and 3) a leakdown on a 911 in the four hours for the event.

Thank you to everyone for your interest, but we have to close the schedule. If you want to have your car worked on, email me, and I'll put you on a wait list in case someone drops out or can't get parts in time.

See you then!

It looks like we're expecting a good turnout for this session. Again, thank you to everyone who expressed an interest in getting their cars worked on. As it stands, we will be doing the three procedures detailed in one of the aformentioned posts.

See you on Saturday!
