Speed is the New Suck

I watched "Speed is the New Black" on the Velocity channel a moment ago, featuring a 1990 C2 that was painted blue, had its carpets and seats replaced, and had a dual exhaust added.
For some reason the producers chose to pretend that these modifications would send Rob Dickinson into paroxyms of envy and soul-searching.
A few observations:
1. Neither the producers nor the talent spent a minute on this forum before rolling tape.
2. Viewers like me experienced more location shots of the St. Louis Arch and the workshop where the next Singer-beater was being "made" than they saw detail shots of the car itself.
3. Unburdened by any dyno or other factual proof, repeated claims were made that swapping the stock exhaust for a Fabspeed dual exhaust, removing the heat exchanger and adding a magic chip added 50 hp to an otherwise untouched stock engine. Hmm.
4. The smug assertion that removing some soundproofing and the heavy stock seats saved weight was immediately belied by adding steel half-cage and a City-of-Compton 20 speaker stereo.
5. Oh, and they painted a Hennessey Cadillac during the same episode and also replaced its exhaust.
6. I haven't mentioned a thing about the I-just-wasted-an-hour-of-my-life interviews attempting to highlight the drama of the Sprocket's upcoming track day and the pressure it put on the Speed is the New Black team.
7. Etc., etc.
Was anyone else this disappointed?

I actually felt the exact same way. Watched the show specifically to see what they would do to a 964 in good shape. Wasn't impressed. Looks like KW Coilovers which I agree with but the rest of the mods was just meh. It didn't seem cohesive at all. The roll cage with speaker box was just stupid. I was really hoping to see a mini version of a Singer custom but instead they ruined a perfectly good 964.

Agreed, a waste of time!
The ducktail was a POS, and what was there...a half dozen guys to install a Steve Wong chip?

Because car nuts look for content not entertainment.
BTW I felt the same about a program i saw last night where a 356 was resurrected after 40 years sitting in a garage. New shocks, modernise the points and brakes, then clean the fuel system including the carbs and tidy up a few wires. Voila it starts.

Ha!!!! SUCKERS!
I recorded it so I was able to FF most of it. I only wasted about 30 minutes of my life.
They went into more detail on fabricating the steel insert for the rear light than anything else.
Very disappointing.

Isn't so much of TV this way now? Like a bad movie with a great trailer. They spend more time going over the same thing, repeat it after every commercial break, all the while giving you teasers about the 90 seconds of real info they barely touch on in the last segment of the program.

The show definitely sucked.
Interesting non brembo "more expensive" brake upgrade (Stoptech) they said nothing about...
Fabspeed product advertisement in the center of the build...
Wheels were not my cup of tea for sure (made by Rotiform)
Forced tv drama with a 2wk deadline for track event by the car owner... right.
If anything I would like to find out more about the headlight visual upgrade supposedly from a 356...

LOL I came onto this forum just to see what you guys thought. I'd never give a custom shop a "blank slate" to do what they want to with my car.
BUT, the fabspeed exhaust and KW coilovers seem to be pretty well thought-of mods that give the car a definite performance upgrade. Car looked really good in my opinion when it was done.
What's the consensus about changing the OEM color? I figured that was a No-No
