Default 90 C4 Front diff leak

Need some help from the c4 experts. My car started leaking a lot of diff fluid. The leak is coming from where a plastic cover is near the input shaft. Is this area supposed to be dry?
I did a search on this topic and I think Im going to have to replace the input shaft seal which is $20 but requires removing the diff. Has anyone run into a similar problem and what was the solution?
Thanks

Hi
You're correct that is supposed to be dry. Mine displayed the same symptoms and it was a leaking input seal. The diff was removed and the seals on both output shafts were done at the same time. I'm trying to remember, I think it was about six hours labour. 🤔

+1 - should be dry. If you are replacing one seal, I recommend changing all three while you have it out. Also renewing the diff gear oil is a good idea while you have it out.
