Default Anybody Ever Need to Clean the INSIDE of their H5's?

After spending $125 for a replacement H5 lens/reflector assembly (rock hole in the lens when I bought the car), I jumped on a couple of used H5 assy's recently on auction. They are both in nice shape but are kind of dirty inside.

Has anyone ever had the need to clean the interior of their headlamp assemblies? If so, I would like to know what you used which was safe on the reflector finish, but did not leave residues or spotting.

Thanks,
Tom

Tom, I had good results using rubbing alcohol. But make sure it has completely dried before installing the bulbs.

I dont' know if this applies, but I've had a number of mornings where I've cleaned my glasses but found that wasn't the problem at all .... I used strong coffee. Sometimes several reapplications are needed.

I'm supposed to be working. Sorry J

Default yes

take the things out, unscrew the bottom valve, and find a stopper for it. Pour in a jigger od dishwasher detergent, grab a piece of cotton rag with a gripper type thing on a spring, and plunge the contraption in and swirl the rag about. Decant the mix into a jar to use on the other headlight. Rinse with water. Pour in a goodly amount of alcohol, and repeat the swirly stuff. Decant into another jar to use on the other headlight. Set aside to dry completely (I put it over a heat register. The thing will come out like new.

Since I installed my H-1's. I sometimes wonder why I bothered with these hideous H-5's/ Just my 2c

Thanks for the replys and suggestions, guys. I wanted to use alcohol, but was afraid that I might get some stories like "Yeah, I tried that and all the silver came off my reflector."

Dishsoap solution to scrub and alcohol to dry out the water. I'll try it tonight.
