[QUOTE=circleswim;13791026]Yeah, I'd also like to be able to drop the rpm the gear change is initiated as often I'm hitting the limiter mid gear change because the gear change isn't quick enough.[/QUOTE

Are you shifting in the manual mode or shifting thru in the auto gate by going from 1 to 2, 2 to 3 to 3, 3 to driv or down. Going up or down thru the gears in the auto gate is the only way I have came up on the rev limiter and is the only way I know how to force the trans into which ever gear you want. Which wouldn't be bad if the indents between gears were more pronounced

Try as you slow to keep hitting tip lever as you slow you should see indicator light and trans go down thru the gears 4 ,3 ,2 once you slow enough the 1 will light up then rapidly press accelerator pedal it should then hit 1st gear. In my car MY91 the down shift to first will happen below 15 to 20 mph.
It seems wrong to really hit the gas fast instead of easing back into the throttle but I believe the tip controller uses wheel speed, gear selector position, throttle position sensor and how rapidly the throttle is being applied to determine which shif map to use

It happens when I'm in manual mode but letting the car rev up to the point it auto upshifts. My engine is by no means standard which probably doesn't help.

Yea that could be it. does it do it in the auto mode I usually go manual for 1 to 2 then over to the auto gate to let the controller do the the shifts. The shifts seem crisper and quicker then

Another thing to check not sure what the proper name for it is but I call it the kick down switch under the throttle pedal, the pedal actually presses a lever which then presses switch. The one in my car was the lever froze and caused the switch to be on but got no indication of errors until I hooked a Durametric scanner to the car.

Is it possible to put another Tip in from a different model? Perchance the 993, or the 996 Turbo (although that one is a 4WD).

It is a problem for me on the track, as I lose some steam because of the gearing, and 1 less gear.

I've considered the Tip to Manual conversion, and may end up doing that instead.
