Wheels (again) -- Do I have this right?
Stock C2 wheel info: is this correct?
1990: 6Jx16 (f); 8Jx16 (r) Club Sport (Design 90)
1992: steering stops altered for 17" Cup wheels: 7JX17 (f); 9Jx17 (r)
There were no "optional" wheels, just these two stock packages for the C2, 89-94.
Have I got it right? TIA, J

Joe,
I think you're close, but not quite right. Hopefully Adrian and others will weigh in with the definitive answers.
1990: 6Jx16 (f); 8Jx16 (r) (Design 90). I think the Club Sport wheel is slightly different, though. Also, I think technically these wheels were on the 1989 C4 964s.
1992: steering stops altered for 17" Cup wheels. Could be. I think there were some slight alterations to the cars around '91 or '92 in this area. However, I think the 5 spoke wheels on the '92+ 964s were 16" rather than 17".
No, I think forged, rather than cast, wheels were offered as an option for at least the '90 model year.

Dear Joe,
You must not get options and standard mixed up. The following post ONLY applies to the narrowbody Carrera 2 and 4 models.
1989 to 1991 the standard wheels were D90 design 6JX16 front and 8JX16 rear.
1989 to 1991 the optional wheels were the 928 design. Yes I have seen them fitted.
1992 to 1994 the D90s were replaced with the D92 wheels. Standard size offered was 7JX16 front and 9JX16 rear.
The optional 17 inch wheels offered were also of D92 design and they were only in one size 7JX17 front and 8JX17 rear.
So in summary:
The standard narrowbody 964s were offered with 16 inch wheels of either D90 or D92 throughout their entire life. A limited size 17 inch D92 was offered as an option only from 1992 to 1994.
Note: Some 928 and 944 16 inch wheels were offered as optional throughout the whole life. However they are normally only seen on 1989 and 1990 models.
Ciao,
Adrian

Thanks Adrian,
This is exactly what I was looking for. I thought I was pretty far off-base, hunh?
Is the D92 the 5-spoke I was referring to as the Cup?
Is there any book that seems to have all of this sort of info listed? (Yours?) Or do I need to find a copy of an orginal Porsche brochure? (The "Red Book" is sketchy and the "Buyer's Guide" is seems to have some misinfo.)
Thanks, again. J

Dear Joe,
Mine. I go into quite some detail (well I think so) on this subject including the part numbers and sizes, tyres etc.
The use of "Cup" has reached mythical proportions. The official documentation from PAG (I have the latest issued in 2002) calls the wheels by the their Design number. They are all up to model year 1996 of the basic "Cup design" which is 5-spokes.

All right! I knew Adrian would have the correct info! Adrian, you're a treasure!
I am looking at the Porsche 911 Carrera 2/911 Carrera 4 Technical Data Standard and Optional Equipment brochure for 1990. Here's what it has to say about wheels.
911 Series Standard Equipment: Pressure-cast light alloy wheels (Design 90).
911 Series Options: Forged alloy wheels (disc type)
