I couldn't resist (I knew what tyres you use)!

Everyone can obviously decide what to do, I'm sure we're all aware of the risk taking the tyre off (although I think it's minimal).

really? so you must feel the diff between tank is full or empty heavily - do you??
Yes Cay I could actually feel a difference. But not in acceleration, but in rear end lightness. The rear end would act less like a pendulum, and actually grip the road better. The extra 50 lbs of a full spare in one concentrated area acted like sprung weight...

I do! My petrol/gas tank holds 92(4?) litres = 92Kg! I usually half fill it. No question car feels quicker when tank is nearly empty.

I viewed a rear engined 1960 Renault Dauphine at an auction t'other day. There was a sack of sand secured in front trunk/boot to help the nortoriously bad handling!
