Sorry, but I don't think I will, other than it is the maximum penalty for driving 'without due care and attention' in the UK. Well, it was at that time at least.

9 months later, I was banned from driving for 1 month due to doing 107.7mph in a 60. At this time, the system was such that the disqualification wiped off the other 9 points I had on my licence so I was quite happy about that!

Since then, I have grown up (somewhat) and my next driving penalty came 8 years later in 1998 and now in 2003. On the whole not bad, but looking at it I was clearly a complete t**t when I was a teenager. I had a Mk1 Astra GTE which was very modded in a boyracer type of way. If I remember correctly the original Astra had 120fwhp, but I installed a 2 litre Stage 2 gasflowed head engine with cams, baffled sump etc. and by the time I was finished it was producing around 165hp at the wheels. It was quite a quick car for a 18-19 year old....and traction was a problem as well...

See, I think I'm fairly unique (actually, for many reasons but specifically) :

When I hit 9 points (about 12 years ago now I think) the final 3 were for 115 in a 70. The policeman who stopped me told me I'd also been doing 89 in a 60, but he'd only book me for the 115 - which seemed like a nice gesture, but a bit pointless given the instant ban which would result.

Had to go to court, already had 6 points and I had no defence (didn't need my license for work etc) and to this day I have no idea why they didn't ban me. They told me they could - and then didn't.

I think I must just have a lovely smile.

Hey- if you guys speed up (say to 120MPH or more) when you see those photo signs in the UK, will it make the picture blurry enough that you can't be identified?

Andrew, you need to be over 180mph for it to go blurry. Consider that most of those cameras are in town or anyways on narrower/slower streets and you soon have a challenge!

This is not quite correct according to actual tests. TopGear tested the speed cameras at 150mph when they took a perfect picture and again at 170mph in a TVR Tuscan when the camera did not even take a picture! What annoys me is that the top speed of a 964 is supposedly around 162mph. What I want to know is: am I/we safe...????????

Surely you're the ideal person to find that out? After all, from what you said earlier - if we're not safe at least it will wipe those 3 points off your license.....

Then again - these days, speeds like that get you a prison sentence. I reckon a good looking lad like yourself would be very popular in there.....

Well, I should be heavier than most guys in there. I can always fall on them if I get into trouble.

Gatso spead limit 156mph, why would most car manufactuers self impose/limit their cars to 155mph? so u can still be caught.
