Default Informal Ducktail Poll

After reading through several threads, I am more confused than convinced regarding which duck to choose. Apparently the Stratton conversion fits best because it is on a factory metal structure but I'd be concerned about potential risk of damage and expense of shipping two ways. I've read good comments on GT-Racing, Getty and Rennsport as well. There is another vendor of various fiberglass products on the auction site. I'd consider buying a used one but availability is hit or miss. I've seen pictures of several 964s with duck, would like to ask for some first hand experiences with quality/fit & finish. Perhaps it would be helpful to others as well.

If you're shipping there's risk of damage. None are finished when you get them. Some need more some need less. Buying a 'new' lid I probably have 2.5k into my Stratton.

It was packed well but this is what it looked like when I first received it.

I just had a Getty one painted and fitted. it fits very well. They have a jig they mount them on to ensure fit, so you're not getting something straight off the boat from China. I'm happy with it.

Thanks for the responses guys, keep them coming. These are the kind of real world experiences I was hoping for. I suppose I should ask if anybody has a decent used one for sale although I think someone recently posted a WTB. Luck and timing, right?

I can honestly say that the Stratton duck tail is great. Fit and finish are outstanding and the way he packages the finished product is amazing. It is well worth the extra money. Your concern about damage is nothing to worry about. I have been told by the body shop that helped me that fiberglass duck tails rarely fit well, need a lot of massaging to get a good fit and can warp easily over time. They were happy I chose the Stratton route.

A great attribute of the 964... you can modify it any way you like to make it your own. Along with some gorgeous original bone stock cars, this forum is filled with so many cool 964s that have been 'personalized" by their owners. Each one different in it's own way. I like to see what others have done even if it isn't my cup of meat.

I don't have access to my pictures as it was being installed, but Getty ducktail. Not alteration needed. Bolted right on, and I think it looks great. RSA tail was on the car when I bought it.
