Porsche 964 ECU DME Bosch interchangeable ??
Hello
Can anybody here confirm if these ECU DME Bosch boxes are interchangeable? At the moment in the car (but damaged) 0 261 200 450 911 618 124.01 TYP 911 MW-DZ-01 I can buy a second hand for an acceptable price 0 261 200 473 964.618.124.02 TYP 911-MW-DZ-01 Anybody here has a link what every digit means? |
Can't actually help with the crux of the question but the last 2 digits of a Porsche part number seem consistently to be a revision number, implying that these bits ARE NOT interchangeable given the 911/964 1st triplet difference. It's too expensive a part and I've not seen the above statement signed by Porsche for me to bet my mortgage on it.

I found this thread, it might help you with answers.
I'm on a similar hunt if the repair to my DME doesn't take. |
My 1990 C4 ROW has ECU # 911.618.124.03 so I'm not sure when they moved to a 964 number.

You can upgrade but not downgrade.

My understanding was that you could use the newer part number ecu in any car but you couldn't use the older ecu in the newer cars...

Wonder why some are 911.xxx and some are 964.xxx?
