Default One more VEMS project !!

Hello everyone

My MY93 964 208.000 kms will get a new brain !!

During last track day, I suddenly couldn't desengage 3rd gear ... shift broken ...
As I needed to drop engine+gearbox to fix this, with an upgraded shift,

I decided it was time to start a crazy project :
* clean the engine, previous owner had a severe oil leak during long time ...
* fix all remainig oil leak
* change mecanical steering pump to electrical
* suppress A/C
* make all the oil lines as short as possible, oil tank GT3 style + oil radiator closer to engine ... big deal
* delete the actual spark control system and the MAF : here comes the VEMS solution with 12 x COP

Many thanks to raceboy who sent me a VEMS ecu + wide lambda + air temp + all connectors needed to make a custom wiring harness

A lot of work to handle, but plug to remplace igniton distributor is fitted : no way back

I thought I was the only one to break that shaft. Exactly the same place. Any theories?

Before it happened, did you have to take care moving 2nd -> 3rd ?
slow movement, no noise, quick shift -> crack-crack ??

3 -> 4, or 4 -> 3, never no problem

I think place for locking pin weakens too much shaft, that's why I tried to minimize this ...

Gearbox was just refurbished. I took it to the track and at high revs in 3rd gear it would go into neutral. Mechanic said ok to shift around it. The gearbox then jammed up while in 3rd. It took out the guide sleeve as well. An expensive fault as I had just replaced that. The mechanic thought the shaft had broken when it was shifting out of gear. It then slid out of detent and selected two gears. Sorry I don't fully understand however you are the only other person I had heard of it happening to.
