Funny how different things are between Canada and the US. I would never even consider needing to do this.

Glad you're both ok! The car can be repaired or replaced.

Yes, first little guy safe... that's good news.

Car can be fixed, but I totally get how disappointing/freaky it is.

I thought any rear-ending was the rear-ender's fault? No?

Very sorry to hear that additional information above...
That bumper on the vehicle that hit you must transfer all the impact to your car, unlike a normal bumper to bumper collision, making it quite an impact on you and your son.
Best wishes for a full and speedy recovery

This is horrible. How close were you to plowing into the people crossing the road?

I don't frequent this Forum very often, but a friend with a 964 told me of this sad tale. I hope you and your son rebound quickly. Ironic that while looking for distracted drivers, CHP has elected to drive while distracted. Like many states, CHP officers largely enjoy immunity by statute. But there are limits to this immunity. http://articles.latimes.com/2001/aug/17/local/me-35219

Here's hoping that the State of California buys "new" RWB 964's for both you and the son.

holy ****...glad you and your son are ok, relatively. cars, and for that matter, most material possessions are replaceable. people are not. PI attorney for sure. that's easily $20k+ in damages.

that stupid Kunt cop fishing for cell phone users. Might as well shadow parking meters.... pisses me off.

I would sue them for soft tissue damage.
The car resale value is also an issue with an insurance claim.... I would want compensation for depreciation of vechicle resale due to accident history.

Lawyer up.

Thanks again guys, to answer one of the questions above, we were pushed/thrown forward about 10-15 feet, really glad we didn't hit another car in the front or even the cross-walkers....

I can't imagine if we hadn't been there, there is a good chance the CHP would have hit the folks on the cross-walk!
