Outlaw or purist: repainting bumpers
Hi all,
Like most of you, I am a bit of a purist when it comes to my 964. But with so many outlaw builds around us, I started liking more and more this new trend.
As I have to paint my front and rear bumpers, I will most probably stick to what I know best and get them repainted the same color and keep the car mostly standard. Go with cup mirros, cup wheels.. you all know the drill. (I know, elephant ears must go!)
But... if (and it's a big IF) I wanted to go outlaw.. would you repaint them in any different color and go down the slippery outlaw path to match other parts of the car?
The thing that makes me doubt mostly are the rounded style of the 964 bumpers. I am not quite sure the 964s look good on original bumpers painted in different colors, whether the wheels/decals and the rest of the car get also repainted in different colors or not.
Here's a pic of mine and one of Magnus Walker's outlaw builds to have an idea. But again, not same generation car.. rounded bumpers.. 964 vs. older 911s etc. What do you all think? Any photos of 964 outlaw builds with different colors?

Your car looks pretty clean, even those headlight washer nozzles look in place
I'd keep it stock, maybe put a few stickers on it like the Tag Heuer white 964.
Put your money into the suspension since it looks to be riding high.

Thanks hockenheimr!
To help the discussion, here are a few more pics to get ideas from. Yey or ney.. all opinions are welcome!
I hope the owners of the cars below won't mind. I found these photos on google so it's public info.

You could just wrap the bumpers.

These cars are so pretty, simple and elegant in stock form that I can understand anyone would want to keep it 100% stock. That said there are so many wonderful upgrades out there that really sharpen the car up and improve the car's responsiveness... Plus it's fun making the car your own, tailored to the experience you want to have.
Since you're a purist at heart, but want a little change, stick to easily reversible mods.
Great, recent article by Frank:
EACH STICKER - WORTH A 100 HP
A fun, easy and quick change... change the color of your wheels (and headlight rings) with Plastidip.

@911Jetta: Love that last one with martini livery !
@02m2: I used to agree with you. But I am much more open-minded now after seeing so many tasteful builds around. You wouldn't call any of Magnus Walker's builds racer boy wanna be, would you? I know I wouldn't. But again, those are older cars.. his 964 is all one color and looks great!

Not a big fan of the MW builds but did buy a set of his wheels for my 964.
If you want to stand out grow some dreads and paint your bumpers..to me it is just a bit silly.

Three Wheelin'
White would look great with martini or brumos livery. Just seems fitting if you weren't going to keep it factory. I wouldn't bother with painting the mirrors ect.

Definitely fun at the track, might be too much for errands around town...

I would leave it as the car is beautiful as is.
Not a purist myself, just the whole "vw harlequin" type of look isn't my thing. Plus, maybe I am getting older but I want less attention to my car not more.
