Default Different Front Bumpers (?)

Can someone explain the different front bumpers? I see some with the indentation for a license plate and others that are smooth.

Seems like every one I see for sale has the indentation. Is the smooth one an aftermarket option?

Thanks

Smooth one is modified to be like that. Most body shops will be able to do it for you

I added the German type front license plate and frame, much cleaner look as that space is designed for it.

When I had mine sprayed I had the holes filled in, but left the indentation.

Ditto on having the holes filled in. That smooth look is clean though. Wish I would have thought of it when I had it sprayed.

Will be having my bumper smoothed over the winter. No idea why I didn't do that when I had the whole car repainted. Looks so much better

Most shops will just cut the indented section out, pull it forward and plasti weld it flush with the rest of the bumper

Too bad I just had the car painted or I would have had it done too. I hate front plates. I just had them paint plugs to match the car color. Go to Los Angeles and get a ticket every time if I park on the street without a front plate.

My friend just did it for his Linen Gray 64. Looks really good IMO.

I'm having from the doors back painted next week. Car got keyed. Anyway I took it to the body shop and asked them about doing this. they cautioned about cracks appearing down the road. I'm also having the holes filled left behind when I replaced the periscope rear light so I'm spending some loot. I would love to have this mod. Does anyone have long term experience?

There is no fear of cracking if it's plasti-welded properly. If you packed it full of filler, that would be an issue.

Anyone know of a shop in SoCal that has actually done this mod with plasti-welding before?
