Default New Air Cooled Engine Progress

2-Valve Engine Update: latest set of camshafts are still in hardening process. This should be accomplished by the end of this week. The plan, however, is to begin dyno testing with the last set but with the other modifications made over the past months of engineering.

4-Valve Engine Update: latest head design to be reviewed tomorrow.

Hi Robert, that sounds amazing.

I've been following your posts on this and the other sub-forums and I just think it is great that people like you and your company are developing the air cooled engine further, particularly on the 4 valves per cylinder front where others have failed in the past (Advantec and Porsche themselves).

Just a quick general question: would it make sense to try a 3 valves design as a good compromise between the optimized volumetric efficiency of a 2 intake valves design and the better thermal resistance of a 1 exhaust valve head?

Thanks

Subscribed. Can't wait to hear more. Interested as a Porsche enthusiast and especially as a mechanical engineer.

Robert,

I am patiently awaiting to see both your 2 valve and 4 valve motors as the GS is a work of art. Would you be willing to discuss with us what parameters you have set for each motor's design and where you see the proposed benefits to be (specifically with the 4 valve).

I know HP and TQ numbers are what most want to know, but I would be interested to see if you expect to see the same flat Tq curve, increase fuel efficiency, etc.

Latest Information on 2-valve, normally aspirated, air cooled engine: 442 HP and 442 Nm Torque – and this is without the newly designed camshafts which are still being hardened.

Robert we would love to see the Dyno specifics and the correction factor that was incorporated to achieve such a result. It should not be that difficult for you to do so, please post the sheet just like the Domestic guys do. Unfortunately today claims of 195+BMEP at over 6500* RPM run abound.
It would be refreshing for us with a Engineering back ground to actually see the results sand the display.
Regards

Love seeing this level of investment in these old relics! I don't know how much you're able/willing to divulge. I would be curious: With or without a cat? tq/hp rpm? 4.0L? Original case/heads/crank? Is the Bosch system based off the original, or a later motronic?

It sounds like you're using any and all current tech. Must be fun. Good luck!
