I am hoping that the 2-valve engine will be production ready by the end of this year. As to the 4-valve, plans call for production ready status by the first quarter of 2018.

I'm glad you are doing retail -- even if I cannot afford it.

Up further consideration, to give us more flexibility, we have decided to use Bosch MS 6.4 instead of 6.2 as our ECU.

Out of curiosity...What do you like about the Bosch unit vs other choices? How is the development/programming interface compared to Motec for example?

As I do not want to start a war, I will simply say that we consider Bosch to be far more sophisticated -- and this is, with respect to all, all I am going to say.

Lots of guys spend a lot more than this to develop race motors and they build multiples (after initial development, cost come down) because you know you are going to lose motors here and there...and then build more. None of these costs seem high at all...so far. Further, most of the people who race and spend, don't have sponsorship. Just sayin. We are all nuts. Some nuts are nutser than others.

I like it- thanks for chronicling it all here Robert...

Last week, there was a multiday meeting of engineers involved in the 2- and 4-valve engines.

As to the 2-valve motor:
1. After quite a few hours of dyno running, it was taken apart and showed no wear of any significant type which, frankly, pleasantly surprised all.
2. We have designed a way to supply this engine with or without A/C.
3. Engineers believe they have a way to obtain a bit more than he current 450 HP -- with street gas and with a catalytic converter.
4. Work has begun on Bosch MS 6.4 as the ECU.
5. In short order, we will begin another series of dyno runs with this including endurance runs.
6. During the next runs, we will compare Porsche standard and Turbo fans with a new fan design.

Re the 4-valve:
1. More progress in design.
2. Have established 21 steps that must be completed.
3. Again, Bosch MS 6.4 being integrated.
4. More sophisticated testing being instituted.
5. Though one can never be sure, target HP is 500+.

Always look forward to your updates. I can't get my ac right, would be wild to have a hot motor like that AND working ac. Talk about a dream motor with no sacrifices

That's why we have a solution with A/C.

Indeed, I remember the fact that the 964 3.8 RS was not available with air conditioning hurt sales.

The 964 could really use a cost effective magnetocaloric HVAC unit! And I don't think anyone is using them in the automotive field just yet?
