Redoing 964 Interiors
As some are interested in redoing older interiors, severral days ago I came across this from Spinneybeck Leather. The weave can be had in many colors and colors can be intermixed:

It seems quite interesting.

Sweet. Now we're all about to have the same looking interior!

Interesting. Wonder what kind of durability testing/fire retardency testing Singer did? Also, not being a leather expert, wonder if furniture leather and automotive leather have different fading characteristics and resistence to stains. But, I assume Singer looked at all of that. Maybe worth asking Singer to see if this weave, which is very attractive, could be used for older cars. (Indeed, in general, I wonder what level of safety/crash testing tuners such as Singer, etc. do. When, e.g., they finish "reimagining" a 964, most of which had airbags originally, at least in America, do the original airbags remain, do they add additional ones?)

Grommets can be had at Jo-Ann fabrics and the like.
It's a pretty easy install: http://www.sew4home.com/tips-resourc...ewing-projects
Another place to get them: http://www.romefast.com/Grommets.htm
Any upholstery shop should be able to do this.

Spinneybeck makes not only the real basket weave, which according to the drool worthy thread has a backing material, but they have a pressed material which just has the grain in it which looks like weave. They will send you samples of colour and materiel, I'm looking at doing my car now.

Though I did not know, I wondered if both airbags were removed during what is said by Singer to be a complete rebuilding of the entirety of cars and were never reinstalled. Curious, were the Singer cars subjected to actual crash tests?

No, because the car is not new it keeps the old chassis number. Singer does not actually sell cars, they sell a service. The car is purchased by the owner and always remains their property. This allows Singer to bypass many regulations that other manufacturer have to comply with.
