Many times, it is in Swindon and the coolest thing to do is to do an anticlockwise rotation, confuses the visitors no end. I once had the missfortune to have a Post Office Telephoes van I was driving break a half shaft right in the middle of the roundabout. Not a good place.

Funny thing is - I thought about posting this on here just the other day!

How strange.

You can do it anticlockwise or clockwise if you follow the route around the centre zone or around the outer mini-roundabouts

If you were approaching from the position the photograph was taken and wanted to go to Wroughton, rather than staying on the left you go right and start an inside path skirting all the left edges of the other mini roundabouts. Its like driving on an inside track and you are still legal in going clockwise on each individual roundabout

It's in Swindon. When you're at ground level, it's actually all very straightforward. Why, even the locals can manage it

English are good a that sort of thing, it's even better than the traffic light Christmas tree in the middle of the roundabout in Canary Wharf!

...generally speaking, I MUCH prefer roundabouts to other forms of traffic management. My reason is that they self-manage all levels of traffic flow. Unlike traffic lights which are so frustrating at 3am with no other cars in sight, to be siting at a red light for 5 minutes. In Epsom a few years back they replaced the roundabouts on the Ewell bypass with traffic lights. Congestion soon followed.

True, but what's wrong with normal roundabouts?

cheers

If you want to take the 3rd/4th /5th exit it saves drving all the way around the damn thing, you just hang a right and its done; simplicity itself. (For UK and RHD only BTW)
