Sorry, no turbos, I would not own one. But I do have 356, 69 911E, '72 911S, '90 & '94 964, and '08 GT3.
Each of these cars has a special place for me, I would not want to be without any of them.
The 964 and GT3 each have great soul, as you call it, and are both very capable daily drivers, spirited drives, or track day cars. Would hate to have to choose between them.

Great lineup there I would hate to have to choose as well...
In my case, it's only one (extra) car allowed. So, I have been casually entertaining the idea of trading up, from my nicely modified '91 C4 (PSS10's, chip, exhaust..) to an 07 or 08 GT3. My concern is whether the GT3 is still fun at 5-7/10th's driving on the road. Not looking to do many (if any) track days, but do spend a lot of time on our awesome NorCal backroads.
C4 is fun everywhere, GT3 the same?
Any advice?
Thanks!

I don't have a 997 but rather a 996tt and while it's great as a gt car that's not what I want in my no1 car, the 964 does it all! Keep the 964, you've got time to change your mind and not pay a premium to get back into a turbo. It won't be that way the other way around!

Hi guys,
I'm looking at 997tt cars and can't come to a decision. Ideally, I'll keep both, but I'm not 100%.
Does anyone here own both and if so, are they complimentary? If not, which would you keep if you only keep 1?
Not sure if the 997 turbo cars have the soul of a 964.
All opinion, of course. Just looking for some thought.
Thx

Gt3 on canyons is mostly second gear. It's fun. It's a hell of a car.
But the 964 and my antique are even more fun.
I will say this. If I had to keep one. It would be the gt3. It's a hard decision but that mezger, the noise, the transmission, the steering feel are fing epic. I forgot almost it had been near,y 6 weeks since I drove it last and spend 300 miles on track this weekend. Holy crap that car has a lot to teach me still.

This is what I think as well. You might as well insert an R8 or similiar powered car from that era, that is more of a grand tourer.
Apart from the name, the engine layout, few things are the same, even less on the 997.2 models.
If you define the 997 Turbo and 964 clientel, you also see it is entirely different, other than that they both say Porsche.
964 = engaging fun car - rather similar to a smaller fun car today, like the GT86, M135, Evora, etc.
997TT = fast, easy to drive - you are looking at R8, gallardo, maserati, etc. Completely different feel, drive and image.
I'd compare the 964 more to a GT3 as has been done here.
