Default 964 start button

Thinking about a start button on the 964. Silly I know. Embarrassing but it does look cool I will admit.
Anyone done it??
Pics?
Stop, I know what you are thinking.... don't be a jerk

Don't do it. Push button start used to be cool, but now that even a Honda has it. I am beginning to relish the mechanical act of starting the 911 with a key again. Especially, cranking on the left side of the car.

And yes, when the engine is warm, get in and start the car with the left hand and putting it in gear at the same time with the right hand. Just like the way they start so many racing 911s in the old days.

I hate in the new cars. Older cars it's nice. One thing I hate is that it's so useless. You still have to turn the key before you hit the start button to start the car. That and cutting the brand new rennline dash.

I remember an old Top Gear episode in which Clarkson moves Hammond's Challenger. Even though Hammond was sitting in a diner with the key at the time. The fob range was wide enough for Clarkson to jump in the Dodge and drive it fifty yards or so, into the middle of the road.

My AMG has a keyless button on the shifter. That's pretty cool but I often just use the key. My DB7 has a key for the ignition and a button to start. Every time I turn the key, think it's dead, remember the button, feel stupid then get it started!

My Honda does a lot more. It detects when I have the key fob in my pocket. Unlocks the door when I reach in to pull the handle. It then adjusts the seat and mirror to the proper position. All I have to is push a button to start the car. But it's not cool.

The key on the 993 is cool enough as it is. Perhaps a cool push start button would also need a toggle switch for the fuel pump, toggle switch for the engine management, and perhaps one for halon.

What is the ignition set up in your Rolls?

Do you intend on still having to turn the key to the on position with the start button?

If that's the case it would be a piece of cake. On the ignition wires find which one activates the starter and run a secondary wire to the start button.

I was considering it in my track build but didn't see the value. My Cayenne GTS has a great system unlike the Dodge you need to have the key in the vicinity of the steering column for it to start the car. It also unlocks and does all the things other cars do. No doubt this is something universal to most auto manufacturers.

I would think for security purposes it might not make sense.

It is not expensive to do.

It seems I can use an aftermarket system like s2000. I would still have to have the key turned. Or, get rid of the key and just use the start button. This worries me because I will use the car on the street too.
At this point I'm steering away from the idea.

My parents new Buick has a start button....certainly not for starting the excitement....and I don't care what the ads says...it's still your grandfather's Buick.

I can see it in a racecar. Eliminate the possibility of losing or forgetting your keys (imagine opening up the trailer and then realizing you left the keys on the back bumper of the truck and they're now gone).

LOL That sir is a mistake you only make once. I always keep spare keys to my trailer and cars when I head to the track. never again.
