Lightbulb LED Stop/Tail light bulbs

At last - an LED replacement bulb that actually works!

www.aceparts.com (UK based) sell 24-led bulbs that include sideways facing leds to use the reflector. (I bought the 25mm red 24pin versions)

I bought a couple to try and they are, as they suggest, as bright as the original filament bulbs. Importantly though, the stop light comes on noticeably faster.

Equally important - no bulb failure warning lights (which can sometimes happen with LEds)

I sure would like a set of these for the racecar. I wonder if they will work on a 993?

Will you be wearing these for Oulton, Rob?

(Does your car actually have any bulb failure warning lights? Or are you talking about the Beemer?)

Yikes, the site has a recommendation from someone who drives a Porsche AND a Citreon. Now, who'd be that daft

More seriously, why does it say that these bulbs are not approved for road use?

Cheers

John - yes, they'll be in for Oulton. If the 964 doesn't have bulb failure warning lights, then that could explain it!

Phil - just not totally sure I understood the Citroen comment...and I have no idea why the 'no road use' issue.

Um - yes! I had a long day yesterday OK.

Up at 4. Flight from East Midlands to Edinburgh, drive to Perth for 3 hour meeting, drive to Glasgow for 2 hour meeting, drive back to Edinburgh, nearly miss my flight (last one home!). Get home at 8.30, when I started on my Inbox full of emails.

So, if I'm being a bit dim today...

Got an office full of people with stinking colds (well 3 others). Managed so far to avoid it, but it must only be a matter of time...

So Rob,
Now you got your new bulbs, can we now expect clear lenses at some point?

NO! But I do need new rear lights and central reflector. Shame it'll be £400.

Dear All,

I haven't joined just for a free plug, but we send the LED bulbs (and much improved oval replacement indicators for the crappy amber rectangle ones!) all over the world!

Now, if anyone owns my old 964 Cabriolet, sold in Oct 2000 from Paragon to a local man, please get in touch! It's got an oil leak I can shed some light on! Black, 18" wheels and a pile of receipts heavy enough to lower the car 6" all round!
