Lots of depressing stories here!

If it breaks, I fix it. If it gets stolen, I'd replace it.

Here is my Anniversary 964/ factory wide body. They made 911 of them, only 10 in silver RHD, only 8 left on the road.

Mechanically she's sorted. Cosmetically she's a pig, dents, paint chips, paint scuffs etc...

My only sympathy is routine maintenance.

I am leaving tomorrow for Garmisch-Partenkirchen. 400 miles. Snow, wet, salt, sub-freezing temperatures.
Bad AFM, water leaks into the cabin, whistling heater, dead AC, cracked front bumper, scratched windshield.
No sunroof-, no rust-car.
Eat you heart out, garage queens.

Looks good Frank. Have you checked out Norbert's site?
He has a lot of info on these cars. A lot has been learned about these in the last few years.

Was not aware that there was a club, lol

Can't wait to have it back on the road and using it as my daily...

My conscience is clear. I still have not seen a good pattern picture

This past Sunday I drove my '90 C4 Targa from Plano, TX to Monroe, NC. 1100 miles in 15 hours straight thru. Here for a few days then on to Charleson, SC for a long weekend then back to Charlotte and then back to Plano. Or while here on the east coast might just swing down to Daytona for the 24 before heading back to TX.
These cars make getting out on the road a joy.
Just get out and drive these pigs!

Many interesting stories... but the main theme seems to be "... when I drive it, it still puts a sh%t eatin' grin on my face". I know that I'm frequently seduced by "project creep". Last year I decided to upgrade the blown speakers on the rear deck. Well... almost a year later and now a complete leather upgrade... I have new rear speakers. Then I found an oil leak from the connection of the hard lines to the flex lines under the front, right fender. Replaced the flex lines with the RS, OE lines offered by Elephant (genuinely decent folks) and thought I was done. Then I read the lengthy post by Mr. Spyrex (My C2 Transformation Build) and I've pulled my front fender liners and burned a day scrubbing the factory-sprayed undercoating off. Holy crap... will it ever end??

i can attest to the road conditions in Dallas and they are just flat out miserable. like riding in a stage coach in the old west, except the stage coach now seems enjoyable. all concrete and uneven seam after uneven seam after uneven seam... i do my best not to let that deter me, though. coming from the east coast, with mainly asphalt secondary roads, the conditions here were a rude surprise. doesn't stop me from driving any of the cars, though.

Sadly to say. My opinion of this thread changed after 7 months of ownership. I initially bought this car to be a fun toy and intended to just do some basic mods.

However, after the value shot up and $40k of mods/restoration I am now afraid to take her our for a few reasons:

1. I have a just finished a 3 month full respray
2. I love this car more than any other car Ive owned
3. I am scared to death about theft after all the blood, sweat and tears invested into this.

Its not all about the money i put in, but rather the time I put into this car. It has been worked on since the day I bought it (August 2015). I love that I know every nut and bolt on the car. Its my girl and i have an emotional attachment to her.

I will take her out to the track day, and I will drive her around. I dont mind if my 964 gets a battle scar from use; getting a few chips here and there from driving it but I do mind someone accidentally denting, keying or stealing my car.

In my previous cars, i never really cared. I tracked the hell out of my M3 and I had to replace the bumper multiple times from road mishaps and it was fine. I didnt care. Plus parts were easy to come by. But my 964. Parts are getting harder and harder to get.

Now that I have gone so far with the car Id rather just buy a miata, s2k or frs and track the shtt out of that car.

I am driving the heck out of mine each and every chance I have. I understand where some of you are coming from with the restorations and such. For me, I am still nurturing and forming my relationship with my car. I'm getting to know "every nut and bolt".
In the meantime, I'm just going and do what I was meant to do in the car that was meant to do it...just get out and drive
