Default Is a Restoration Ever Done?

It's hard to imagine restoring a 964. They're like new cars to me. Nonetheless.

Once you start can you ever say you're finished? Here's my most recent column and it deals with all of this.

Enjoy.

Guess it depends on your idea of a Restoration.

IMO Restoration can be done, it's the mods that never end.

My car has gone in both directions. It was never a good candidate for a real restoration since the CIS had been replaced with Webers.

That made it a great track car for a few decades. In the past year it's been returning to a stock 911S configuration. I'm glad I never flared the rear fenders now.

It'll never be a real restored car but right now it's good enough to for most people. And me.

btw - It never ends.

Rhetorical question right?

It certainly is for any of us who have been involved in a restoration. On the other had if it's your first you're very optimistic. You truly believe there will come a time when you write that final check.

Only when leasing do you write a final check on a 911.

Owning one is more like a never ending restoration if you're an enthusiast and have the money to really afford one for the long run.

I guess it depends on the definition of restoration and what it means to the owner.

Now that's too deep for being on a vacation.
I'm just going to look at some 964 pictures.
