Default 964 Targa

I started recently looking for 964.
But these two cars caught my eyes.
http://portland.craigslist.org/wsc/cto/5230495427.html

https://sfbay.craigslist.org/sfc/cto/5249331698.html

Could you guys give any comment or advice on those cars?
I am worried about pretty high mileage, 160k miles. But he says engine is rebuilt, so it won't be a problem. Is that true?
I am pretty new in this class Porsche world, so my judgment could be biased.

Thanks in advance!

The first car looks pretty clean. Probably not a bad buy.
If the engine and trans were rebuilt with quality parts by someone who knows what they are doing, they will last for a LONG time to come.

The second car looks like a great deal, except for it is a scam.

The best advice I have to you is to reach out to your local PCA chapter, and have dinner with them, make some contacts and ask if anyone is selling or if anyone would mind looking over a car with you.

Justin is spot on with the 2nd ad. Just to point out the obvious if you are a novice 964 buyer, that first '86 is not a 964.

Thanks, Justin!
I appreciate your help and tips.
I contacted to local PCA member, and will ask some help from them.

Just wondering, what tipped you off to the scam? I can't spot a scam for my life

Me too. Is it because the add in the second car says it's in Baltimore and it's posted on SF Craigslist?

Pretty much the fact that it is/was listed in chicago, san fran, and baltimore all at the same time. The photos clearly are not recent, the seller does not provide a phone number, and the ad just reads like a scam. I have been wrong before, but when you look at as many cars as I do--you just kinda get a feel for it.

Interesting that the ad is posted in multiple cities.

Seems like more Porsches are getting listed on Craigslist. There's a 93 C2 Coupe, tiptronic on the Charlottesville CL. For sale by a used car dealer. Never used to see many 911s for sale on there.
