Shifter Upgrade

I had the Rothsport short shifter & FD golden rod installed, and definitely like the results. It's however not a night and day difference. Benefits are: slightly shorter throw, taller shift **** position, and racier look. To be honest, the stock shifter was pretty damn good, so I don't see it as a necessary upgrade, unless you have some worn bushings and need to freshen up the shifter anyways. Or, you're running out of other stuff to modify and have some cash to burn.

There is a company in UK called Ringspann ,they make custom shifter for race car , The nam is Gordon Riseley in Bedford, He was saying he could make it work, I moved to South of France , and did not had the chance to bring him the car.... I think It's probably worth the development as it could apply to 64 & 93 C4...

Not yet. I just ordered my FF shift **** but was waiting for the shifting components to go on sale over the holidays which they didn't. Will probably order soon. Anyone else install recently?

So I ended going with the full upgrade. FD forward rod, GR, Rothsport SSK, FF shift ****. Overall, feels great. Engagement is definitely more mechanical. I do feel that under load at high RPMs, getting into gear is not as precise. I installed Wevo motor mounts a couple of year ago so that's not the problem. Anyone else who has done this upgrade have their system adjusted or have experienced this?

Matt - if you go to the CAE web sight you can get more info. The bottom line is that the answer to your question is "NO". The CAE is complete. It does away with the forward lower rod that has the nylon bushings. It has one rod that goes to the rear that has a universal joint at the transmission and a vertical Rod at the shift lever. The base of the shift lever is anchored in the aluminum housing. This allows the front Rod to be removed.
