Hi all:

Just wanted to stop in and say hello. After Am really hoping to be able to find a great 964 as it seems, to my relatively inexperienced eye at least, to have the classic 'Porchse' look (unlike some of the more recent models) and provides an engaged, visceral driving experience.

The problem I have, however, is that I have no experience buying used cars (Porchse or otherwise). As such, I feel somewhat lost as to the best way to locate potential cars and, more importantly, not sure (apart from trying to arrange for a PPI) what to do when I locate any potential purchases. Although I conducted some preliminary searches, the sheer volume of information returned seemed slightly daunting as much seems off-topic.

As such, any guides or advice for newbies such as myself would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you, in advance, for any information and I hope to be able to learn from some of the more experienced forum members.

Regards,

Welcome to the forum. I'd say your best bet would be to approach reputable dealers (yes there are still a few good ones out there) and save yourself lots of time, hassle & grief, flip side is that you will end up paying a premium.

I was thinking the same as mondrian, it'll save you loads of potential heartache, just get loads of miles in before any warranty expires. Either that or have the shop you plan on using for repairs and servicing view a private car with you. Either way well done on your choice of car and trust me you'll love it, they're addictive!

Where are you located? Maybe there is a fellow Rennlister in the area that can help inspect any cars you find. Also, be sure to find a good mechanic for the PPI.
