After not much looking, I found a '90 C4 Cab that I couldn't resist. I guess the shiny black paint and very nice interior got me. I have wanted another 911 since I sold my '89 3.2 many years ago. No PPI, just went by test drive, inspection, Carfax and gut. Few service records. Older guy has owned it for 20 years. I took it for a long drive today and I like it better than my 3.2.

It has a battery drain issue that kills the battery after about two days. Electrical issues are not my thing. And the usual oil leaks. The PO doesn't remember much about what he has done over the years, and lost any records he may have had during a move. He bought it CPO with about 56k miles. I will be doing all the usual maintenance stuff over the next few weeks.

At 102k miles, what are the chances that it has the original clutch and flywheel? It feels good with no slippage or noise. I believe that all the '90s had the bad Freudenburg flywheels.

I also get burning oil smoke out of the rear wheels wells when it first gets hot, then goes away. I guess oil is dripping on or near the exhaust when it is sitting.

I love it.

Now I just need a lift for my garage...

Congrats! Check the door light actuators for the battery issue. When you shut the car off, your battery maintains power to the windows etc until a door is opened/ closed. The black plunger switches fail with time. Check both and see if the power cuts after opening each. You'll see if one needs replacing. Just a thought! Best,

Tim

The hood, trunk and glovebox lights are common problem areas too.

The clock is also a battery drain.

A battery conditioner is essential if you don't drive often

Enjoy!

Thanks everyone. I have been reading up on the various electrical drains. It is voodoo to me. I like to see things move. I'll get a couple of pics soon.

I have had several Miatas over the years, and still have one. They are terrific. I never really looked forward to driving them as much as I do my 964, though.

Sweet. Looks like the third brake light has already been nicely modified if I'm not mistaken. Enjoy.

Actually also check that the third brake light was properly wired. That looks like it came from a 993 but I can't say for sure from the picture.

Nice cab, good luck and enjoy.
Cabs do not get enough love. Love mine, especially this time of year and summer nights.
