Default 964 Targa Wanted

Hello,

I'm looking for a 92-94 Targa C2 or C4 (would prefer a C4) with between 20-50k miles, pretty open to colors, no automatics, any help would be appreciated.

Would also appreciate any tips regarding what to look for when buying these cars.

Thank you

If you are looking, and don't know yet what to look for when looking, I strongly suggest trolling around on rennlist for a bit prior to buying. Keep looking, talk to people. Buy and actually read the enthusiast companion. Don't just pull the trigger. You will pay too much for a car that isn't worth it. Pay the right price for the right car. You can only do that if you know what you are talking about. Most of the dealers selling these cars are "used car salesmen" through and through. Particularly if you are anywhere near New York.

Sorry to the few of you selling that aren't taking advantage....but the rest of you...ugh.

If it were me, I'd be looking for a private sale from an owner that would give me service records. Dealers typically throw away all records and show you a useless carfax report. Look for service history.

Further. Expect to spend money on cars that you won't buy. If you think you are about to buy something, send it out for a ppi. Let the ppi be your main guide. (If the car is cheep, you likely won't have time for a ppi). I would pass if there is no ppi. Pay up for a good car unless you can do all the work yourself.

I currently own a few aircooled 911s and am pretty familiar with them. However this will be my first 964 Carrera and was wondering if there were certain improvements made to the car as production went on, what are some common problems I should look out for....

The one at holt seems very clean, and I will definitely give them a call, thank you

Shoot me a pm w your phone number. I'm in Chicago this week and would be happy to chat and give you the long version...everything you never wanted to know about a C4...but were afraid to ask. Too bad you aren't in the New York area. I'm always happy to go look at C4s...

I appreciate the offer, I think I'm gonna work on the car at Holt. Its in literally my least favorite combo and those wheels gotta go but I can pass on a 1 owner 36k mile car.

you'll get a great car from holt, but they are high priced because of the time and effort he makes on acquiring them and of course he needs to turn a profit.
most of his sales are from over seas.

Just called on the Holt car, sounded like a great car, very clean. Unfortunately it was priced quite a bit higher than im looking to spend.

The search continues.

I definetly agree but I currently have a 993 Cab and plan on driving this 964 almost daily (as long as there isn't salt on the ground) so I think a targa would handle the daily commute better than a cab.

You shouldn't have a problem finding a nice one in that price range
