The box is fixed. It's still unknown why the selector rod broke however an independent American box builder said it wasn't common but not unknown so who knows?

The reason the box failed its second build is that the new 3/4 slider and new 3rd synchro were damaged when the rod broke. I had a used 993 slider and new spare synchro so it was fixed without delay when that was discovered.

Now to get the car and do some fast road testing shakedowns.

Sounds like great news. So, you know quite a lot about this stuff? I don't have a spare anything and amazed how you chaps (several RL members) have extra this and spare that? Did you know to source these parts along the way or gone through a few gearboxes over the years?

No, I don't know much except that being learned the hard way

As for spares, it's a random coincidence. The slider was a doubled up order (I gave up on a new one and ordered one ex cogs cogs then the shop found a new one) and the synchro unexpectedly came with the 3rd gear set when I had already ordered one. Lucky I guess considering how it turned out.
