Default New lightweight battery option

Anyone see these Ohm batteries?

6 pounds, last 7 years.

Just waiting for them to come out.

I've been also checking those out.

No issues starting or anything?

From what I'm reading the only draw back is say playing the radio with the car off. Battery just doesn't hold a charge as long. Not really an issue because I never to that anyway and who needs a radio in a air-cooled beauty haha!

I saw this on techcrunch as well. Looks promising! Curious to hear from those who get the beta.

I think they must be past beta...just got an email that they're accepting pre-orders starting monday 8/17...Earlybird price is $169 (regularly $199).

I think i'm going to order one...any downsides to a battery like this one? Does it look like a direct fit replacement from the pics, based on side and terminal/lead connectors?

Sounds like there's no need to trickle charge this either, which is great for the winters. Is that the case?

Anything else on the market similar to this to consider?

I don't know how good this well be.I'm in the automotive trade and the jumper packs you can't leave on the car after started they been catching on fire. Also I fly radio control planes with life batteries and If you crash they catch on fire. Plus you have to be careful they way you charge them and If you kill them their no good you'll never be able to charge it agin. I can't see this happening anytime soon .

My two cents. These cars do strange things on weak batteries. Problems you would not even think to contribute to the electrical system pop up and are fixed by replacing the battery. Unless you use this as a track car and you are so concerned with weight, I would suggest one of the batteries that people have had luck with. Reliability and a good running car is more important than a few pounds saved. I have an Optima Yellow top in mine. A battery that can shut itself off sounds like trouble to me.

I think it's time for batteries to evolve. It's kinda stupid how everyone is still using lead acid batteries. This really isn't new technology, A123 batteries have been around for a long time. I've used A123 batteries in my motorcycles for years without any issue.

The only downside is that they don't last as long with the engine off, if you're say listening to the radio. Not really an issue IMO.

Think they will die if they sit for a while without a trickle Charger?

Don't know.

My current conventional battery dies if it's not on a trickle charge, but that's the cars fault. Think I'm gonna install a kill switch. Not only to stop the issue, but to make it harder to steal the car.
