Default Le Mans Classic 2016 - July 8-10 2016

Hi guys,

Its probably time for us all to be thinking about sorting out the next trip to the Le Mans Classic for next year. In 2014 it was a great weekend and I've been looking forward to going again since then!

http://www.lemansclassic.com/en/

The tickets themselves etc are not on sale yet, but we should think about reserving hotel rooms etc. It would be good to get an idea of how many rooms we would need and then we can think about finding somewhere to stay. Last year we booked the hotel through On-Site events in the UK so maybe they will be able to help this year too?!

Accomodation:

http://www.onsite-events.com/lemans_classic.html (Last time we stayed at the Kyriad Mulsanne which is right at the end of the Mulsanne straight).

So far we have:
Room 1 - Andy Roe + Luca - Deposit paid
Room 2 - Black-Betty + Ben/Cuse92
Room 3 - StuartQ + looking to share with someone
Room 4 - Mark Helliker
Room 5 - Cheeksyboy Deposit paid - possible share with bigunit_271078?

OK, I've heard back from On Site events and they do have rooms available at the Kyriad Mulsanne. There is a minimum of 3 nights stay - I'll probably be looking at the Friday to the Monday. Details of the prices are on their website etc. The hotel is in a good location and has secure parking and I have no issues with staying there again.

Who's in then?!!

hotels !!!

you can't appreciate the classic fully in a hotel

I'll be there as usual in my 2.4S with the DDK crowd.... although having just done the 24hr in the 964 , I could be tempted with taking the 964 to the classic !

We have always just organised a group buy of camping plots in the public camping areas and not bothered with anything fancy etc ... used to be MB or KN, but last year ended up on bleu Nord which I think looses some of the atmosphere of other sites.

If anyone wants to tag onto the DDK camping , just let me know

I'm open to all options! What are the costs like for camping? I've looked at travel destinations rates and they seem similar to what it'd cost in a hotel?!

we do it on the cheap .. think it was £120 pp based on 2 in a car for camping & entrance tickets etc

Saying that, we have not sorted 2016 yet and I've got to get DDK'ers opinions on what they want to do eg public camping as usual or one of the private ( but expensive) camp sites .

Although I was taking the pee ... if you've got the chance of a near trackside hotel I'd take it as the fun of camping soon wears off if its raining

Here's a couple of links to accomodation options:

I'm game. I have a feeling most of the EU W9O crew will be up for a hotel, I am.

I'm also up for the hotel again - camping is looking around the same price anyway..

I'm wondering whether we should tentatively reserve 4-5 rooms and go from there?

Yup. Sounds like a no brainer. There are definitely at least 5 that are down.

OK - When does everyone prefer to turn up?

I'll ask On Site events to hold 5 rooms - I'll confirm that this is OK when I hear back from them and also the amount we'll need to leave as a deposit etc.
I'll be looking for the Fri, Sat and Sun nights - does anyone also need the Thursday night too?

Cool! Last year we left on Sunday morning, but I'd like to stay and see the end of the races next year.

I've sent an email to Greg at On Site asking him to reserve 5 rooms, but not heard back from him yet - maybe he's on holiday. We'll need to decide who's going to share with who and if people want a room to themselves etc, but let me see what Greg says first. Note that he gave me a price of 429 per person without travel if anyone wants to go that route.
