On all my previous 911's and my current 993, I have to flip the nozzle 180 degrees to avoid the constant shut-off. I think the fill tube backs-up quickly and gives a 'false peak' to a full tank. It is a little bit of a pain....

Andrew,
I'm glad you posted this problem. I have the same problem every time I fill up. I've tried pulling the nozzle half way out and filling up slower but nothing helps. I'll try the 180 degree trick next.

"fuel smell in the cabin. I was going to perform the filler neck upgrade"
Same prob here -please say more!
"vapor recovery system"
I thought this was great idea -came across it in Cal in '98, but not Florida this summer. Are they more health conscious in California?
"That would certainly save on the aching fingers we get over here"
John -if you put the filler cap threaded part thru the pump handle it will do the same. The automatic cut-off will still work, even with this in place. In the States they have a moveable clip on the handle to jam it, great idea.
