Default Share your KW's

In anticipation of receiving my KW V3's for my C4 (ship from Germany on Friday), I thought I'd try to start a thread all about KW coilovers, settings used, etc. Lets post up which KW coilver we are running, ride height, dampening settings (if applicable) and any other supporting mods you did with your install. Also, intended use of your 964

I'll start (will fill these in when I install):

-KW V3's
-Street/weekend cruiser (would like to say "canyon carver" but someone recently reminded me that we don't have canyons in my neck of the woods...haha)
-Ride height - TBD
-Front Rebound: TBD
-Front Compression: TBD
-Rear Rebound: TBD
-Rear Compression: TBD
-No other suspension mods planned for now.

Also, throw in some pics if you got them!

Sure-

C4
RS ride height front/rear.
RS version of KW V3 (stiffer rear spring) + monoball mounts
-1.4* front, -2.0* rear camber, within the stock adjustment range
34F/36R psi on 7.5/9 x 17" 225F 255R Dunlop z1* <- also pertinent

Dry autocross settings:
Fr / Fc / Rc = 4 clicks from 100%
Rr = 7 clicks from 100%
This definitely pushes the car toward oversteer and allows for some throttle steering. Way to harsh for the street. It will skip like a stone over rough roads.

On the street I run at the softest setting and it has a great feel, less harsh than the Bilstein/H&R green combo but plenty sporty:
Fc / Fr / Rc = 14 clicks from 100%
Rr = 17 clicks from 100%
I also used these recently as a rain autocross setting and the car had much too much understeer for my liking. Will stiffen the rear a few clicks for the next rain event.

I would recommend taking a drive with them at full soft, then again at a few clicks from full hard. Then see where you want to aim for comfort. Then adjust each up/down slightly to get the car to steer and rotate the way that you want.

Nick, this might be a stupid question but why the softer settings in the Rr?

Edit: Nevermind the rebound/compression question (brain wasn't working).

Great info guys! Keep it coming.

Would love to know the same - my guess is since he's using the RS version with a stiffer rear, the rebound needed to be softened further for a compliant ride.

No secret sauce I'm just keeping the same offset that they came preset to. It's a good starting point. Did I mention that these are rough settings? And also that I'm definitely not a pro! Pretty happy with the dry autocross setting and haven't found a need to fiddle with that. I'll add 2 clicks more rear rebound for the next rain event and see if that dials out some of the understeer. One thing is, the front/rear compression/rebound settings don't seem linear. i.e., 2 clicks front rebound is not exactly the same as 2 clicks rear rebound, or 2 clicks compression, etc. Keep that in mind.

There are some good setup guides in here-

Edit- HalV, how are those camber settings working for you on track? Even with -2 in the rear, I get too much sidewall wear. Running 34F/36R psi hot on old z1* Dunlops. Going to add 1psi to the rears for the next event to try and keep the rears from rolling over as much.

It would be really cool to compare my v1's to v3's on another 964. I had v3's on my wife's TT and it was set up a little stiffer than mid. Not the same cars but after driving both my guess is the V1's are around mid + a little.

I've only done 3 DE weekends since I installed my KWs and now realize that I'd like to add more camber in the rear. When I had it aligned (after installing the KWs) it seemed like a decent compromise (for track/street) but I may go a bit more aggressive with my next alignment. I'm running BFG Rivals at about 38R psi hot, which is higher than I'd like. I only do DEs, which are typically 20-25 minute sessions.

Rear tire pressures with BFG Rival [which has generous amount of tread on the shoulder] are still in the 38-40 hot range to prevent rollover with my KW V3 at RS height and -2 rear camber on 93 C2. Seems you'd need -2.5 or even -3 to bring the rear tire pressures down and prevent chewing up the sidewalls. My 964 is a 50/50 weekend and AX car and I'm using the KW suggested compression and rebound settings for everything. It's absolutely perfect and super fun to drive!

Pics with 17x8 front and 17x9 rear Cup 1 wheels...

This thread is really paying off Nice to know that I'm not the only one rolling over the rear tires. I'm also on 17x7.5&9". Anybody know how much rear camber is possible with all of the stock adjustments? I'm definitely not having any problems with rear inside tire wear.

Picked my car up today! Absolutely love the KW's. Ride quality and handling is significantly improved from stock, especially with 64k on my shocks

All dampening is set to 4 clicks from full soft.
Ride height - front 25.5in, rear 25in

Alignment as follows:

Here she is (better pics to follow):

Any recommendations on a good right height for a C2?

I want it to be as low as is reasonably practical, but not dumped.

Also where are you measuring your ride heights from/to?

Impressive and great thread. The only adjustment I can make with ease is front rebound (v3s on 92 C2 coupe) - how do you guys adjust between road/track/DE? The rears for me are almost untouchable without a lift, and the car is low enough (RS height) that only the front rebound is reachable. I had bottoming issues (really harsh) and moved to full setting (clockwise), minus 10 on clicks. guess that's the same as full soft +6ish. Much better for the road. I really want to adjust all sides and from both factors - appreciate your tips on access. Thanks
