Default Starter motor solenoid

I have an intermittent starting problem which I have narrowed down to the solenoid. My question is, can the solenoid be rebuild or do I need to buy a new one, or do I have to buy a whole new starter motor.

Steen,

Porsche only offers complete starters; the solenoids are not sold separately. There are different versions, depending on the engine type number in your car and prices do vary.

Rebuilt starters are available on the aftermarket, however we no longer install or sell those due to the high failure rate as we cannot tolerate stranded customers anymore.

Thanks Steve.
A Bosch "remanufactured" starter is what's in there now, I replaced it 7 years ago, so it would be safe to say that I should replace it with a new one.
