Headlight screw removal.

I removed the screw on one of my headlights to check it.

Is supposed to so hard to remove? I was lucky I didn't strip it.

I can barely get it back in now. This normal, or did the PO use the wrong screw?

I'm thinking of finding a better replacement. Like a allen head or hex to make things easier.

you can use this husky tool to loose your screw. press and turn. do it slowly. I think it works much better to loose tough screws than standard screw driver.

It shouldn't be hard to install/remove. The screw size should be M4 x 9mm.

I had a similar problem. My solution was just to push hard as I think the screw is too short to get to the threads without being forcefully pushed in. My dad was over for that fun experience and he said "with these old cars, if it ain't broke, don't fix it".

*Edit, I also changed the gasket around the ring, so that probably had something to do with it.

Yeah, mine was hard coming out and going back in. Really hard. I thought maybe the wrong screw is being used.

Or maybe I need to re-tap the threads where it's going in.

I've run a tap through mine just to clean out any rust.

Yeah, seems like it needs to be done. A screw shouldn't require that much torque to go in. Especially with a philips head.

Love this tool. Cobalt makes the same tool for anyone preferring lowes over home depot

But, isn't that just like using a ratchet with a bit adapter on it?

I've done this, and yes it works pretty well on stuck phillips and also works great in hard to reach places.

An impact driver is also good on stuck screws.

The same as a ratchet with an adapter but smaller if you are sometimes in a tighter spot.
